The two drivers who secured Q2 are found: Enea Bastianini was the fastest and in the end Miguel Oliveira stole the place Marc Márquez was missing, with a very well executed attack in the final seconds.
Q1 full of prominent names on the grid such as Marc Márquez, Álex Márquez, Brad Binder, Enea Bastianini, Miguel Oliveira, among others. All ready!
Even before the first fast laps appeared, Bastianini received a warning that he was being followed by Marc Márquez, interestingly two of the names to take into account in Q2.
Interestingly, it was Marc who took the lead in the session, with the first fast laps being completed, with Álex Rins at 0.769s, but in second for now. The Spaniard on the Yamaha was then beaten by Miguel Oliveira, who had already completed his third lap.
With eight minutes to go the drivers started to move to the teams’ garage and it was expected that times would drop. Marc Márquez led with a lap time of 1:30.586s, Oliveira was second, 0.066s behind the former world champion.
In difficulties was Brad Binder who still didn’t have a time recorded, with the South African having problems with his main bike.
With 4:40 to go, the riders begin to take to the track once again. It was now or never.
Two minutes later Marc Márquez miraculously didn’t fall after the front wheel of his bike literally slid, but he remained standing despite leaving the track.
And he, who was following behind Bastianini, was beaten, in the table, precisely by the Italian, which then ruled Oliveira out of Q2. Johann Zarco and Augusto Fernández crashed moments later.
And, in the final seconds, Oliveira went on the attack and managed to guarantee access to Q2 for the first time in 2024!
