Porsche has revealed that it will produce the new electric sports car, 718, which is expected to hit the market in 2025, in the same location where it produces the combustion engine 911.
In order for this to happen, the German brand announced that it is modernizing the Zuffenhausen factory in Stuttgart, Germany, with an investment of around €250 million in construction, expanding the brand’s main production unit, which will include the upgrade of various production systems.
«The reconstruction and expansion measures of our main factory are an important milestone for the Zuffenhausen unit,» says Albrecht Reimold, Member of the Executive Board for Production and Logistics at Porsche AG. «The expansion measures will allow for greater efficiency, the highest quality standards, and the production of both electric and combustion engine sports cars. This will be a new chapter in the production of sports cars, which will now be produced in a smart factory.»
