Last year, Fabio Di Giannantonio almost lost his place in MotoGP for 2024. However, he managed to demonstrate his worth – he won the Qatar GP – and this year has continued to perform well, now with the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team.
The Italian rider sees clear progress and is meeting a goal he has worked towards: ‘For sure I think my improvement through my MotoGP career has been quite clear, let’s say, from last year. Also this year I think we are achieving a really good level of performances in all the races, so that’s so good. And I was really working for it, to achieve that kind of consistency’.
Although he only joined VR46 this year, Di Giannantonio already feels very comfortable, as he stated: ‘The feeling with the team is fantastic; I’m enjoying a lot to ride with them. All the people in the garage have a lot of knowledge about racing and they’re super cool. The energy inside the box is fantastic, it gives me good vibes to go on the bike and do my job as best as possible, so that’s so good’.
Currently, the rider has plans and ideas for what he wants in 2025: ‘For the future we are seeing. With my staff, we have the Plan A, B and C. The goal for me is to grow, so it would be to have a factory bike for next year. It would be amazing to be also fighting with the factory guys. When you have a factory bike, everything is a bit easier. But also I’m really good with my team, so there are two ways that we are working on, and to continue with my team would be so good because it would give a bit of continuity in two years, where I can work on my performance with the same people. So this way would also be so cool’.
Although he considers it premature to talk about the future, Di Giannantonio believes decisions will not take long: ‘I think it’s a bit too early – it’s not that early, but we still have to wait some weeks. But soon we will know everything about it’.
