Fabio Di Giannantonio was once again one of the standout drivers at the last race of the year in Valencia and battled to the end for victory with Francesco Bagnaia. He regretted not having the opportunity to overtake the world champion, but was happy with the way he had performed on track in recent races, highly competitive.
Here’s the first reaction from the rider who was second today: ‘It was the podium of my life. I pushed hard and had a fantastic pace, I started to catch the group and believe in victory and I wanted to win to leave the team with a victory. But then on the last lap Pecco started to close all the lines and I was upset because I said to myself, ‘I’ve lost it!’.
He then concluded his brief reasoning: ‘It was unbelievable to finish the season on this upward trend, I’m very happy and proud. I promised the team to give the best possible result and I think this was a good way [to finish]’.
DiGia, it should be remembered, doesn’t have a seat (yet) next season and only has one chance left, with the Mooney VR46 Racing Team, although Valentino Rossi’s team has recently shown interest in signing Fermin Aldeguer.
