In recent weeks, rumors have surfaced about Fabio Quartararo possibly being in contact with Aprilia, with a view to a potential spot in MotoGP in 2025. The manufacturer currently has Aleix Espargaró and Maverick Viñales nearing the end of their contracts in the official team, as well as Miguel Oliveira and Raúl Fernández in the Trackhouse Racing satellite team.
For now, everything remains in the realm of speculation. Quartararo is in the final year of his contract with Monster Energy Yamaha and wants assurances of competitiveness to stay. So far, the Iwata manufacturer continues to face difficulties, but demonstrates a clear willingness to make changes to make the necessary leap in a process that, naturally, takes time.
In an interview with MOW Mag, rider manager Carlo Pernat addressed the possible move of the 2021 champion to Aprilia, suggesting that in that case, Viñales may be the one to leave while Espargaró seems to want to remain active in 2025:
– From what I understand, Fabio is talking to Aprilia and it is not at all out of the question that, within three or four races, some announcement may be made. Also because Maverick Viñales’ story with Aprilia could be coming to an end, in my opinion, while in Noale they could continue with Aleix Espargaró, who, after saying he wants to retire, seems to be pushing to extend his already long career in MotoGP for another year.
