In recent days there has been a lot of news pointing to Fermín Aldeguer’s very likely promotion and move to MotoGP, in the colours of Pramac Racing, but despite all this the rider’s focus is currently on the intermediate class world championship, where he has a clear goal: to be champion.
Although he didn’t directly confirm his change of category in 2025, the truth is that the Spaniard who currently rides for SpeedUp Racing also denied it, and said that he is focused on his more immediate goals, as he explained to SPEEDWEEK.com: ‘Everyone talks about it, but right now I’m very focused on the Moto2 season, which is an important year for me. It’s always better to arrive in MotoGP as world champion’.
So the focus is on the start of the World Championship in Qatar in a week’s time, with Aldeguer talking about the need to manage the tyres well for the race, especially the rear: ‘First of all, we have to start the season well. All the drivers are very fast, but it’s very easy to look for a fast lap. But then, when it comes to covering the race distance, you have to manage the rear tyre very well. It’s important to have a lot of information for the race’.
What is certain is that Pramac Racing will effectively have an unfilled seat in 2025, since Jorge Martín has already announced that, whether he is promoted to the Ducati Lenovo Team or not, he will leave the Italian team to join a factory team, even admitting that this will happen outside the Borgo Panigale manufacturer’s universe.
