Maria Herrera of the Klint Forward Factory Team secured a dramatic win in the FIM Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship at Donington Park, marking her third WorldWCR triumph. The Spaniard emerged victorious after a tense final lap showdown, edging out Ana Carrasco (Evan Bros. Racing Yamaha Team) by a mere 0.199 seconds.
Herrera seized the lead from the outset, setting the tone for a fiercely contested race. Carrasco mounted a determined challenge, but Herrera held firm despite intense pressure throughout the race. Sara Sanchez (511 Terra&Vita Racing Team) completed the podium, securing her third third-place finish of the season.
The race was marked by several key moments, including a thrilling battle for the final podium spot between Beatriz Neila (Ampito / Pata Prometeon Yamaha) and Sanchez. Unfortunately, crashes for Ornella Ongaro and Roberta Ponziani of Yamaha Motoxracing WCR Team disrupted the race, leaving Neila and Sanchez to fight it out for the final podium place.
Herrera’s victory propels her further into the championship lead, with Carrasco now seven points behind. The series continues to deliver edge-of-your-seat action, and the battle for the championship is far from over.
