Marc Márquez remains one of the prominent figures in the MotoGP grid, despite a recent dip in results due to both injuries and Honda’s competitiveness decline.
Roland Berger, the Technical Director of FIM, believes that the Spanish rider continues to stand out in terms of riding skill and motivation. However, in an interview with SPEEDWEEK.com, Berger emphasized that Márquez needs a certain level of control in his riding style to contend for the championship with current bikes:
– He is in a league of his own in terms of riding, but also in terms of motivation: sometimes he just had a bit too much. If you look closely, from time to time, he reverts to the old style that used to be common. […]. Today, the tires don’t like that at all. The question is whether he has enough control over himself not to make mistakes. If he can, I even think he is a candidate for the World Championship. If he can’t, he will only win a few races.
