For the 102nd Pikes Peak hill climb race, Ford is returning to the USA on June 23rd with the radical 100% electric F-150 Lightning SuperTruck, developed by the Ford Performance team and aiming to contribute to the development of the brand’s electric powertrains.
For the 102nd Pikes Peak hill climb race, Ford is betting on a radical pickup equipped with three STARD UHP 6-phase electric motors and high-performance NMC lithium polymer cells, capable of generating over 1400 horsepower.
With improved aerodynamics that allow for an impressive downforce of about three tons, the radical pick-up features a huge goose-neck shaped spoiler hanging at the rear and projecting above the roof. Additionally, the rear section highlights the enormous diffuser. In the front, the generous splitter is the main feature.
Romain Dumas, a veteran of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb and current overall record holder, will be driving the SuperTruck. This will be his ninth appearance and second with Ford Performance. Dumas’ skill and experience make him the ideal candidate to pilot this special vehicle.
Behind the wheel of Ford’s electric pick-up will be driver Romain Dumas, a veteran of Pikes Peak and current overall record holder, who will be participating in the race for the ninth time, the second time with Ford Performance.
“After a successful climb in 2023, I am thrilled to be back behind the wheel with this team and to help push the boundaries of what an electric vehicle can achieve on the curves of this legendary track,” said Dumas. “In testing, the F-150 Lightning SuperTruck exceeded my expectations, so we are hoping for a good time to try and do something very special.”, concluded Romain Dumas.
