Peugeot TotalEnergies’ Loic Duval, along with his teammates Paul di Resta and Stoffel Vandoorne, took part in the 6 Hours of Imola in 2024, the second round of the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2024. The event took place from April 18 to 21, 2024, at the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola, Italy. During the race, Duval expressed his satisfaction with the progress of the car, stating that there was a significant improvement compared to the previous model. He mentioned that, although the cars are heavier and have less downforce, they have gained performance and consistency in long races. Vandoorne, however, did not participate in the race as he prioritized his campaign in Formula E. Duval, who previously competed with Audi and won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2013, believes that the new Peugeot 9X8 has positive aspects in terms of traction and straight-line speed. He also acknowledged that there are still areas where improvements can be made, such as mechanical grip. Despite the challenges that come with changes in tire sizes, Duval finds driving the car a pleasure and looks forward to competing in Spa, a track that is more aligned with the team’s goals for Le Mans. The new 9X8 features a rear wing and revised wheel and tire sizes, with 29-inch tires in the front and 34-inch tires in the rear. Looking ahead to the next race in Spa, Duval is optimistic about the team’s performance, considering the pace they showed in Imola. However, he remains cautious and acknowledges that there are factors that cannot be openly discussed.
