Francesco Bagnaia secures the pole position in the Valencia MotoGP Grand Prix, putting himself in a better position to potentially become champion this Sunday. This happened because the fastest qualifier, Maverick Viñales, was penalized three positions on the grid.
The penalty stems from an infraction committed by the Aprilia’s Spanish rider during the warm-up. His bike emitted smoke, and marshals signaled with a black and orange flag for him to enter the pits.
However, Viñales did not comply. Due to non-compliance with the instructions, the #12 rider was penalized three grid positions and will start from fourth. Consequently, the front row of the grid will consist of Bagnaia in pole position, Johann Zarco (Prima Pramac/Ducati) in second, and Jack Miller (Red Bull KTM) in third.
