This year, Francesco Bagnaia seeks to achieve his third MotoGP title, staying with Ducati with one of the strongest bikes on the grid. Few have been the riders throughout history to win championships three years in a row, and the Italian will also face strong opposition – as for example from Marc Márquez, who will now be riding a Ducati for Gresini.
Davide Tardozzi, team manager of Ducati, told Motosan.es that this is an opportunity for Bagnaia: ‘I’m not a rider and I give them the right advice. I think Pecco wins the third title by beating Marc Márquez with Ducati and enters Olympus, so it’s a challenge to face. He has won two World Championships, how nice would is to try the third by beating Marc Márquez. I see it this way, I don’t see a problem, I see an opportunity’.
From Ducati’s perspective, Tardozzi also considers that having Márquez in one of their satellite teams is beneficial: ‘I see the possibility of having a champion who can give us more suggestions to further develop the bike. Ultimately, we have to see this as a positive thing’.
