Even before the start of the Formula 1 season, Lewis Hamilton was announced as a driver for Ferrari in 2025 – he will take over the current position of Carlos Sainz, whose contract expires at the end of the year. Therefore, the Spaniard loses his seat at Scuderia, despite the solidity of his results since joining in 2021.
Frédéric Vasseur, team principal, was asked if this is an unfair situation for the Spaniard, to which he replied: ‘I don’t know if unfair is the right word. Because as a team, you always have to consider the option of Lewis. He is the most promising driver in the field, the most experienced, and this is very positive for us. But it has nothing to do with Carlos.’
The French team principal added, as quoted by grandprix.com: ‘He is a very professional driver and we have a good personal relationship, but it is what it is – we have to focus on the future.’
