American Honda has reported a significant increase in sales for the month of January. The Honda brand saw a jump of almost 13%, contributing to the overall increase of more than 10% compared to the same period last year. The electrified CR-V crossover SUV and Accord mid-size sedan also achieved record-breaking January deliveries, while the Civic experienced a notable increase of 23.6%.
This surge in sales indicates a strong demand for new Honda models, with the introduction of the Pilot, Civic, Accord, and HR-V attracting new customers. It also highlights the continued importance of passenger cars in the purchasing process. In response to this demand, Honda has teased the upcoming release of the facelifted Civic series for the 2025 model year, including the introduction of a new Civic Hybrid.
Looking ahead, Honda has a positive outlook for the rest of the year. They have plans to introduce the Prologue electric SUV, the CR-V Fuel Cell Vehicle, and make styling and technology improvements to the Odyssey. However, some diehard fans may be left wanting more, as the lineup currently only includes one high-performance model – the 2024 Honda Civic Type R hot hatchback.
Fortunately, digital car content creators are stepping in to fill the gap. Marouane Bembli, also known as TheSketchMonkey on YouTube, has taken it upon himself to bring the Honda S2000 roadster back to life in the virtual realm. Bembli has previously worked on reviving the sports car, but this time he has started from scratch, envisioning the next-generation (AP3) Honda S2000 roadster through CGI techniques.
While the reinvented S2000 won’t feature the same high specific power outputs as the original models, Bembli suggests that it could come with the 2.0-liter K20C1 turbocharged inline-four engine found in the Civic Type R. This engine has the potential to produce up to 325 horsepower. There is also the possibility of electrification, with the option to use the powertrain from the 2025 Civic Hybrid or the two-motor setup used in the CR-V and Accord Hybrid models, which delivers 204 horsepower.
