Álvaro Bautista’s current chief mechanic, Giulio Nava, has many years of experience in motorcycling and has even worked with some of the big names in the paddock, from the not too distant past and now, Marc Márquez and Casey Stoner, who he recalled.
Speaking to MotoSprint, the Italian recalled one of the riders many consider to be one of the most talented, Stoner, with the latter recalling how sublime the Australian was, in one particular aspect: ‘Casey had a control of the rear brake, gears and front brake that I would describe as impressive‘.
But his experience with riders at the highest level didn’t stop there, with the eldest of the Márquez brothers also being something to be praised, especially in the way he quickly absorbed new teachings:
– He was a sponge, eager and quick to learn. I’d explain something to him and, after three laps, he’d be doing it as well or better than the others.
