Hafizh Syahrin, who did not secure a spot in the World Superbike Championship for this year, is set to return to the series from August 9 to 11 in Portimão, thanks to a wildcard entry.
The Malaysian rider is currently competing in the Asian Road Racing Championship with the JDT Racing Team, which has secured a wildcard entry for the Portimão round. According to a team’s statement, Syahrin will ride a Ducati Panigale V4 R, identical to those used by the official team, and will receive factory technical support from Ducati. However, the bike will be run and adorned with the colors of the JDT Racing Team.
This is a significant opportunity for Syahrin to showcase his skills in the WSBK with one of the most competitive bikes in the field. In 2022 and 2023, he competed in the championship with the MIE Racing Honda Team, where he struggled with a machine that was not capable of achieving strong results. His best result was a 12th place finish in the second race at Most in 2022.
Before his Superbike career, the Malaysian rider competed in Moto2 and MotoGP, spending two seasons in the premier class without notable results.
