For the sixth time, Johan Kristoffersson is the world champion of rallycross. The achievement was sealed this Saturday in the first round in Hong Kong, which was an absolute debut on the calendar.
Kevin Hansen performed well after a puncture in qualifying, leading after the heats before dominating the respective semifinal. The Swedish driver from Hansen World RX Team also prevailed in the grand final in a clear manner: he surpassed Niclas Grönholm (Construction Equipment Dealer Team) by 6.675s, after taking his joker lap only on the final lap – unlike the Finnish driver, who chose to take it on the first opportunity.
The podium was completed by Timo Scheider (All-Inkl Münnich Motorsport). Kristoffersson, on the other hand, had an unusual outcome. The driver from Kristoffersson Motorsport was in the fight for victory with Hansen when on the last lap his car stopped on the track. He still managed to finish, classified in sixth. However, by then he already had the title sealed.
