Just like in 2023, Álex Márquez will once again have a previous-year Ducati in the upcoming MotoGP season, riding for Gresini. This year has shown that it’s possible to compete at the front under these conditions, as demonstrated by Marco Bezzecchi (Mooney VR46 Racing Team/Ducati) with his third-place finish in the championship and the victories already achieved.
In an interview with CopeGP, the Spanish rider stated that there are some advantages to having a bike with previous-year specifications, unless the factory bike makes a considerable leap:
– In the end, having the previous year’s bike – it’s true that if the bike takes a very significant step and has a big advantage, which I believe won’t be the case because it’s a good bike – but it allows you to arrive at the circuits with the electronics prepared, much more data, they have to fine-tune the new engine, and all of that. And you gain an advantage.
