The winter break is somewhat a part of the season in which most of the job in MotoGP is unseen, but Hervé Poncharal spoke a little about the subject, what and how, the teams are doing.
The owner of GASGAS Tech3 had a conversation with Paddock-GP where he explained part of what is being done at this time of the year: ‘Winter is the time when we prepare for the new season and there are a lot of things to do. As far as the team is concerned, winter is first and foremost the time when we take stock with all the staff to find out who’s staying and who’s going to leave’.
A preparation towards the long season is also getting much attention: ‘There’s always movement because obviously with 22 Grands Prix, 44 MotoGP races, there are people who think it’s too much, so we take stock and that’s when the people who are leaving have to be replaced. Interviews have to be carried out, and so on. Then we redo the logistics, because the designs change almost systematically, so when there are big changes, we repaint all the lorries, redo the cubicles whatever happens, and in any case from one year to the next we redo all the team’s clothes’, and continue:
– We prepare the bookings, we make the plan with the riders, so there are a lot of logistics and organisation to prepare the first trips for the first test sessions, the first Grands Prix, and so on and so forth, and then we also have to finalise the agreements with the partners for the coming season.
