The GP of the Americas was a weekend to remember and one that will be remembered for the rest of the season. The winner of Sunday’s Sprint race made history by becoming the first rider to win for three different manufacturers in the premier class, and there was another recital from rookie Pedro Acosta, who finished in second position.
Honda test rider Stefan Bradl, speaking to ‘Sport & Talk from Hangar 7’, talked about Marc Márquez’s body language before the start of the GP.
– ‘It meant something to Marc because he knew that many things were possible. And if he says things are possible, then a podium is not enough. He’s on the right track: he can already smell what it’s like to be at the front. Marc wants to finally win again, more than 900 days is too long. He sensed the opportunity and it cost him to make a mistake. He had his first battles at the start of the race. Then he rode his old style and took the lead. Then, unfortunately, it went wrong, it was a shame’.
Bradl also questioned Marc Márquez’s momentary fall: ‘At first I thought maybe he was riding in the old Honda style. He was making a lot of mistakes. But then he admitted he had brake problems. He took the lead on the lap he crashed; Pedro Acosta was very happy, he was right behind him and he must have smiled a bit when he crashed face first into the ground. So the circle is closing again. Maybe it’s also part of the generational change’.
