Prima Pramac will be leaving Ducati after nearly two decades to become Yamaha’s new satellite team in MotoGP starting in 2025. But what is the mood and mindset with which Paolo Campinoti’s team is approaching this shift from a manufacturer they know well and who is currently the most competitive, to one with which they have never worked and is experiencing a crisis in results?
Gino Borsoi, team manager, explained to GPOne.com that everyone was informed about the change in advance, emphasizing the need to maintain internal unity:
– It’s clear that I spoke with the team about this ahead of time. They were informed even before the announcement, especially the key people in the structure. I informed them of the possible decision. After all, we are a family, and a family has to stay united and strong in its decisions. We also have to be happy to continue making different choices.
According to the Italian, for Pramac this is a new challenge that everyone is embracing with enthusiasm: ‘The mechanics saw it as an opportunity for a new challenge, stepping out of their comfort zone. In the end, Ducati is that for us. Things work, and they perform well. The support is there. But like any comfort zone, when you step out of it, you have the desire to start again and do something new that makes you wake up in the morning with a different mindset. It’s not that things here today work like a Swiss clock. However, in the end, sometimes changes can make you wake up’.
