The Hyundai factories in Russia, which were acquired by a local company, will resume production in January, after about two years of suspension due to the war in Ukraine, according to a representative of the company to the news agency “TASS”.
Hyundai stopped operating in Russia in March 2022, shortly after the start of the war in Ukraine, citing “a shortage of spare parts due to global logistical failures in the supply of automotive components”.
More recently, Hyundai Motor announced the sale of its factories in St. Petersburg, opened in 2010, to the Russian company Art-Finance.
Hyundai Motor entered the Russian market in 2007 through a subsidiary that was 100% owned by the South Korean group and reached the third position in car sales in that market in 2007.
