A Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Corporation announced that they have signed an agreement with technology giant Samsung to develop future lifestyle solutions that fully integrate smart homes and cars, also known as Car-to-Home and Home-to-Car services.
Under this agreement, Samsung will expand its SmartThings platform to support connected vehicles, allowing Hyundai and Kia customers to remotely control digital appliances in their homes through the infotainment systems of their vehicles.
On the other hand, users of these services will be able to remotely control various functions of their vehicles while at home: control the air conditioning, open or close windows, check the battery charge status of electric vehicles, among other functions.
“This is an opportunity to make Car-to-Home and Home-to-Car services of connected vehicles more convenient in various fields,” emphasized Haeyoung Kwon, Vice President of the Infotainment Development Center at Hyundai Motor Group.
“We plan to accelerate our technological development to significantly enhance customers’ experience both at home and in the car,” concluded the same official.
