Red Bull GasGas Tech3 is set to lose one of its most talented riders, Pedro Acosta, to the Red Bull KTM factory team, where he will move up in 2025.
Despite the potential disappointment of losing such a promising talent, the Tech3 team is taking it in stride. Team owner Hervé Poncharal assured that, as quoted by SPEEDWEEK.com:
– I say this very consciously and honestly – I welcome his move to the factory team. Because the more Pedro can bring to the entire project, the more everyone benefits. I call this the Pedro effect. You have to understand Pedro Acosta, on and off the track, as a MotoGP leader. And although Pedro feels very secure and comfortable with our team, he is also aware of his role and is very happy about it.
Acosta is not only achieving impressive sporting results but also starting to become a fan favorite, with the potential to follow in the footsteps of successful riders like Marc Márquez and Valentino Rossi in terms of popularity. Being part of a factory team offers more than just status; it provides opportunities that aren’t available in a satellite team, even if Acosta’s current results are surpassing those of KTM’s factory riders.
