After a win in the long race last weekend, Aleix Espargaró was the worst Aprilia this Sunday at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, ending Sunday in 12th position.
Asked about the race, the Spanish rider said it wasn’t all bad, identifying where Aprilia needs to improve:
– It wasn’t good, but it wasn’t super bad either. The position isn’t good, obviously. The only good thing is that I’m not losing too many points to (Brad) Binder. But the pace wasn’t that bad (…) We need to improve the engine. Because on tracks like these, with a lot of grip, you need more torque. I couldn’t overtake anyone for the whole race, and that’s a shame.
The #41 also said in the debrief that after the last two rounds, he believes that finishing the championship in the top five could be a reality, even after a poor start to the season:
– Top 5 is the reality. I would say that if I’m focused, I can finish 4th in the championship. I’m only 12 points, I think, behind Brad (Binder). So, with the shit start to the season I’ve made, I’m proud. It’s difficult, this is MotoGP. Aprilia isn’t good here, but I have to say that I’m not good here either, I’m not very competitive here either.
