Miguel Oliveira finished 19th on the second day of MotoGP testing in Sepang. The Trackhouse Racing rider worked on the aerodynamics and geometry of the 2024 Aprilia RS-GP, continuing to familiarize himself with the bike. He also attempted to set a quick lap towards the end of the session but without success.
The Portuguese summarized Wednesday’s work: ‘Again some things on the aerodynamics side – mainly on the front area of the bike. Then we also did some geometry changes to get a better feeling. The feeling was improving a little bit step by step. I tried to make a little time attack with new tyres at the end of the day, but it didn’t worked – I went slower’.
After two days of testing, Oliveira revealed that he is facing some difficulties in an area where he was strong in 2023: ‘I finish the day with mixed feelings, because I was feeling better with the bike. Still I’m not able to go fast in the fast corners, where you have to do the corner speed. This was something I had last year that was really, really good, so I’m struggling there at the moment’.
Regarding the failed time attack, the #88 also explained: ‘I felt the tyre was not the best, to be honest. But we need to see what happened actually. I don’t want to blame just the tyres. We need to analyse. After many laps, especially in the afternoon riding all the afternoon with the medium rear and the hard front and then I went straight to the medium front and the soft rear. So it was a bit strange feeling’.
