Diogo Moreira will be one of the newcomers in the upcoming Moto2 season. The young talent will represent the Italtrans Racing Team, considers Marc Márquez as one of his references, and a few weeks ago, he had the opportunity to compete in the 100km dei Campioni – an event organized by Valentino Rossi at Rancho de Tavulia.
Reflecting on this experience in an interview with Motosan.es, the Brazilian rider said: ‘The photo with Valentino Rossi came out beautifully; I will frame it. In that race, I finished second; the winner was [Luca] Marini, and Valentino finished third. I had already been fifth in 2021; I couldn’t go in 2022, and this year, the truth is that it was fantastic. The track, the atmosphere, what is set up is impressive. It’s like the MotoGP environment, but even more fun. In Spain, there is nothing like it. And training with Valentino Rossi is something else. The track is perfect for training’.
During his time in Italy, Moreira took the opportunity to visit the facilities of the new team, sharing his impressions: ‘I had never been there, and it is impressive. It is very large, and we have everything, all the bikes from all years, materials, trucks… it’s all very beautiful, really. I really like the team, and I am very happy. The best thing is the enthusiasm I have year after year’.
Finally, Moreira revealed his MotoGP role model: ‘I would say it’s Marc Márquez because he is the one I train with the most. I have a long way to go to reach Marc’s level, but I follow in his footsteps’.
