After a challenging period, including the worst result of the year in Barcelona, Enea Bastianini reacted in the best way at the MotoGP Italian GP: he returned to the podium with second place, just behind his Ducati teammate Francesco Bagnaia.
Speaking in an interview with the official broadcast, the Italian began by saying: ‘The feeling is incredible, because after a difficult period something was wrong, but we solved the problem. And today we pushed really, really hard. I can be really happy’.
Bastianini admitted that there was a moment when he was calmer, reacting later to Marc Márquez’s (Gresini/Ducati) overtake: ‘I slept a little bit during the half part of the race, but when Marc overtook me, I understood that had to push, I had to comeback’.
Regarding the maneuver that led him to overtake Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati) right at the end, the #23 commented: ‘During the last lap I saw Jorge really close to me, and I thought: «Okay, it’s possible to do the second place». And I overtook him in the last corner. I’m grateful, I’m very happy, and I want to dedicate this race to my dog – she died a week ago and she was my baby’.
