As he moved to Repsol Honda, Luca Marini left behind a six-year stint with VR46 – which began in Moto2 in 2018, where he became the runner-up in 2020, and culminated in MotoGP where he arrived in 2021.
During a press conference, the Italian recalled his time with the team: ‘It was a fantastic journey. I shared the best moments of my career with the team, I want to say thanks to all the group we have now, but also the members who were part of the group in the past in Moto2. I enjoyed every moment’.
With VR46, Marini achieved his first podiums and victories in World Championships. In MotoGP, he managed to reach the top three twice, both this season – which was his best with an eighth-place finish and 201 points accumulated.
