Marco Bezzecchi finished the Sprint race in second position despite having some physical limitations.
Asked when he started to feel the pain from his hand injury during the race, Bezzecchi said: “To be honest, at the start of the race I felt really good, I don’t know if it was the adrenaline from the start or the pills I took beforehand, but I felt really good at the beginning. As soon as I started to get closer to Jorge (Martin) I started to feel more pain and make some mistakes, especially in the first sector which has more transitions. On some laps I could get closer, on others I couldn’t, but on the last three laps I suffered a lot.
The Italian rider is still recovering from his injury after the crash at the Catalunya GP, and tomorrow he will face an even more demanding challenge with a 27-lap race at the Misano circuit. When confronted with the fact that he will have to manage his injury and his driving during the race, Bezzecchi replied: ‘First of all, the bike with medium tires is softer, in Q2 I suffered less with these tires, but I’ve already made up my mind that I’m going to suffer tomorrow anyway. As soon as I saw Martin getting away a bit I just thought about keeping the gap to Pecco (Bagnaia) and that will probably be the goal for tomorrow’s race’.
