The main race of the MotoGP German GP was far from aligning with the rest of Miguel Oliveira’s weekend at Sachsenring. This Sunday, the Portuguese rider finished only in sixth place, quickly losing the possibility of contending for the podium against the superiority of the Ducati riders.
The Trackhouse Racing rider said after the race: ‘It was really, really difficult. I knew when I finished yesterday that today was going to be really hard with the Ducati guys. I gave it everything, but I just couldn’t make enough of a difference to be with them. Already from the start there was an offset on the grip and they just have more stability, more drive grip, and I couldn’t challenge for more. That’s it’.
Despite Ducati’s superiority and knowing the difficulties, Oliveira admitted that he believed he had the pace to fight for more, until the race made it clear from the beginning that this wasn’t the case:
– Is like they wait until Sunday to put everything out, and this weekend was the first weekend where I could really be there all the sessions: I was top three, top two, top five, consistent and competitive lap times. I thought I had a good pace to challenge for something, but Jesus, when I started the race was almost impossible.
