Jorge Martín or Marc Márquez? This is the question Ducati is pondering as they approach the selection of their second rider for the 2025 MotoGP season. For Jorge Martínez Aspar, the choice is clear.
The owner of the Aspar Team told the newspaper AS that he would opt for the eight-time world champion despite the potential risks and the belief that Martín might be easier to manage:
– If I were Ducati, I would choose Marc, but knowing that it could create problems. Problems of having two great champions between whom there might be ups and downs within the box. I think that a Jorge Martín might provide more stability to the team. Marc, if he goes there, it’s because he wants to be world champion. Jorge does too, of course, but perhaps a Jorge would be easier to manage than a Marc.
Regarding Márquez specifically, Aspar also praised the risk the rider took this year by joining Gresini: ‘Without a doubt, Marc. Right from the start, what Marc is doing this year, with such a risky move without thinking about the money, showing that he wants to be world champion more than he cares about money, that alone makes him the right choice’.
