With just a few weeks left until the start of Diogo Moreira’s debut season in Moto2, the Italtrans Racing Team marks his entry into the intermediate category after finishing in eighth place in Moto3 for two consecutive seasons.
The promising Brazilian spoke to Motosan.es about his expectations for 2024, not hiding some ambition: ‘I believe that if I were to win next season, which will be very difficult, I would surely move up to MotoGP. Because if I’m winning in a category, I’m ready for the next one. But I think Moto2 will be challenging, and I want to take it step by step, not putting pressure on myself with the results’.
Official on-track preparations in testing begin in a few weeks, but Moreira has already been working on a production bike as well as his physical fitness: ‘I have a 600cc bike to train on. The truth is that comparing Moto3 and Moto2, at the end of the straight, it’s not so noticeable. It’s noticeable when accelerating, coming out of corners, that the bike has a lot of power. I weigh very little, and in the test in Valencia, it ends up lifting me off the bike. It was very challenging, so I had to gain some weight’.
