In the first lap of the sprint race at the Indian MotoGP Grand Prix, three motorcycles came to a halt in the run-off areas due to crashes, and the marshals took some time to clear the situation – even though it was not necessary to take care of the riders involved on-site.
Miguel Oliveira (CryptoDATA RNF MotoGP Team/Aprilia) commented on the situation, suggesting that given the delay in resolving the incident, the race should have been red-flagged:
– Today the race direction should have stopped the race; if the marshalls cannot resolve an incident during three laps for sure it’s a red flag situation. Luckly nothing happened because we knew the marshalls were quite slow, so we need maybe to take a little bit of care in the first laps there.
