Maverick Viñales approaches the MotoGP Japanese GP with the podium in mind. The Aprilia rider is confident that he can be in contention for these results if he maximizes the available equipment.
The Spaniard spoke to the press about what he expects from this round: ‘For me the expectations are to take the maximum from what we have. With that I think we can be fighting at least for the podium. So, this is the target and we need to try to be very precise on Friday to keep doing it’.
Faced with the possibility that Motegi could not suit well to Aprilia’s bike, Viñales showed no worries: ‘It looks like it’s like stop-and-go, but at the end the corners are not on first; they are with second gear. So it’s a bit different than India or other tracks. If we take the maximum from what we have, we gonna be able to be very strong. So, that’s the goal from Friday and Saturday – especially on the qualifying because you must start on the front’.
