Toprak Razgatlioglu won the first race of the World Superbike Championship at Magny-Cours this Saturday, where championship leader Álvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Ducati) finished only tenth after experiencing technical issues on his bike.
The result allowed the Pata Yamaha rider to significantly close the gap to his rival in the championship standings. However, he is not paying attention to the title battle, deflecting that pressure onto Bautista. Razgatlioglu was quoted by Crash.net saying:
– I’m happy to win again here in Magny-Cours, as it’s one of my favorite tracks. […]. Everyone knows that Ducati is very strong on the straights, but we’ll keep fighting! […]. I’m not thinking about the championship; I’m focused race by race because I need to win. I forget about the championship. […]. I’m more relaxed than Álvaro because I’m not thinking about the championship. If we win all the races, we are world champions. That’s how I thought in 2021, and that’s how I still think. We’ll just try to enjoy every race.
