This week’s MotoGP tests in Qatar mark Fabio Di Giannantonio’s return to Losail – the circuit where he achieved his first victory in the premier class. Now, he is gearing up for the new season with the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team, following encouraging indications in the Sepang tests less than two weeks ago.
The Italian didn’t hide that being in Qatar gives him some more enthusiasm: ‘I’m not more excited than in Malaysia. We know very well that every time you go on track is always different. […]. For sure I have nice memories from here. […]. I’m more excited to be here because it’s here’.
Asked if he was surprised with his speed in Sepang, especially in the race simulation, Di Giannantonio replied: ‘Well, not really. At the end tests are… this thing about the race simulation has been quite fun to see because at the end everybody wants to be already in a racing mood, let’s say. So a lot media and stuff is pushing this thing. But we know very well that tests are only tests. Every rider is taking the tests to improve a few things on the riding style, on their approach on the bike, on the bike itself. We have a classification of the lap times, we have a classification for these simulations, but overall is how you feel on the bike. I’m just as focused as possible to do a good job here for the race’.
