Aprilia has made clear progress for the 2024 MotoGP season, as evidenced by the results of the recent tests in Sepang. However, the competition – particularly Ducati – has also strengthened, and despite considerable gains in lap time, Aleix Espargaró has some reservations about whether it will be possible to compete for the title.
Aprilia Racing’s CEO, Massimo Rivola, feels that the conditions are not yet in place to set such a goal. When confronted with the executive’s position, the Spanish rider stated:
– Once again all the Ducatis on top and I was the only bike in the mix with them. But obviously we improved, the bike is definitely better than the last season’s one. But I’m not sure if we are able to fight for the title yet. But in any case we still have time. It’s just the first test of the season, but Massimo is right: they [Ducati] still have the bike to beat, they have many strong riders, so it will not be easy.
