Rough outcome for Fernando Alonso in the United States Grand Prix of Formula 1. The veteran had to start from the pit lane after making changes to his car in parc fermé and, near the end when he was running in the points, he had to retire with damage to the floor.
The Aston Martin driver lamented the outcome after the recovery: ‘It was a great recovery for us with much more pace in the AMR23. We aimed to score some points starting from the pit lane, but unfortunately, we had to retire with some damage. It’s a shame, as during the race we seemed quite competitive’.
Alonso added: ‘We gathered a lot of useful data and comparisons between the two cars that will be crucial going into the remaining races’.
