The MotoGP Thai Grand Prix that concluded yesterday was one of those events where Michelin brought a different type of tire, and as in other recent occasions when it was used, Monster Energy Yamaha performed well—particularly with Fabio Quartararo, who finished fifth in Buriram.
The 2021 world champion admitted that the different tyre is helping: ‘We could see that a different tyre helps us because the others cannot generate that much power on the tyre. And if you see it’s clearly an advantage: India, Thailand, Mandalika. We go back to Japan struggling, in Phillip Island we were struggling. So we have to understand really well’.
In any case, Quartararo stressed that this final part of 2023 is giving him hopes for 2024: ‘I’m pretty happy because the last few years in general at the end of the season we were always much worse and now we are doing our best results of the season. So hopefully Yamaha can make a big step forward for the next year’.
