Marc Márquez finished the Indian GP in 9th position, with his teammate Joan Mir achieving his best result of the season for the Repsol Honda Team with 5th place.
Asked why his bike worked so well on the Indian circuit and the course of the events in the race, Marc replied: ‘ The bike was good because the track is very similar to the Austin circuit. In the slower corners and on the long straights our bike works well. I didn’t have any physical problems during the race, after crashing I was giving it my all, but I wasn’t suffering from the heat. It will be interesting to get to Motegi to see where we stand, this weekend I felt we were ahead of a lot of teams apart from the four Ducati riders at the front and that’s important for us. In the Sprint I was on the limit, I didn’t crash and I made the podium, but if I did the same today I’d be dead. The objective at the moment is to finish the race and I did it, my pace was similar to Quartararo’s who finished third, so I’m happy.
Marc Márquez spoke about his adaptation to the bike and the new riding style he has to adapt to in order to have a good pace in the race.
– ‘This weekend the riding style has been different, but I still feel that I’m not comfortable, if I ride with my natural riding style it doesn’t work and so I’m not riding with my natural instinct. All this takes extra concentration and is quite exhausting. The important thing today is that we managed to be the fastest after the three Ducati riders with Quartararo also at a good pace. I tried to keep up with them and I felt I could if I hadn’t crashed, so I was happy with the end result.
