Iñigo Iglesias Bravo made his debut victory in the World Supersport 300, by prevailing in the second race in Barcelona. It was a historic race, where Kove became the first Chinese manufacturer to step onto the championship podium.
The pole position was secured by Julio García González (Kove Racing Team), who turned out to be one of the protagonists in the fight for the top positions throughout an unpredictable and thrilling race. At one point, there were 20 riders in the leading group, and in the end, the top 12 were separated by less than one second.
On the final lap, the main fight was between Iglesias and González, with the Fusport-RT Motorsports by SKM-Kawasaki rider emerging as the winner by just 0.064s. González had to settle for second place, which is still historic: it gave Kove the first podium for a Chinese manufacturer in WSSP300.
In third place was Bruno Ieraci (Team ProDina Kawasaki), who fought for the podium until the end. He beat Daniel Mogeda (Team#109 Retro Traffic Kawasaki) by just 27 thousandths of a second. The top five was rounded out by Petr Svoboda (Fusport-RT Motorsports by SKM-Kawasaki). Despite finishing only in sixth, the winner of Saturday’s race, Aldi Satya Mahendra (Team BrCorse/Yamaha), leads after the opening round. He has one more point than Bravo.
