Pedro Acosta got the third place of the MotoGP Catalunya GP Sprint race. He was leading at some point, but in the final laps he didn’t have the most competitive bike to fight and even the top three was in danger.
The Spaniard from Red Bull GasGas Tech3 admitted that the level of difficulty was very high: ‘It was for sure the toughest one in all season so far. At the end, in the moment that you make a mistake with the throttle and you start to spin and overheat the tyre, you are done. This happened maybe when Raúl [Fernández] was in front of me pushing like a hell. I got a little bit hot. Anyway, it was tough, but is also going to help for tomorrow’s race’.
Then, Acosta said: ‘At the end I overheated a lot the front tyre behind Pecco [Bagnaia] and behind Brad [Binder]. And then I missed turning, and then I started to make spin, for this, it was a snowball’.
Being in the lead during this race was not an easy task, according to the rookie: ‘Maybe everyone wants to be in front to refresh the front tyre, but then was so difficult to be in front, because when you are alone or with a big distance for the guy in front was quite tricky to be fast in the last sector. Then was easy for the other guys to overtake you on the first corner. Then it was quite difficult to avoid the turn 5 sliding the front, for this, it was quite tricky’.
