Next year, Prima Pramac Racing will be Yamaha’s new partner in MotoGP, effectively becoming a second factory team for the Japanese manufacturer – a closer collaboration compared to their current one with Ducati.
However, one thing that will not change is the selection of riders. Pramac’s team manager, Gino Borsoi, explained in an interview with PecinoGP that it will be a joint choice, with the riders’ contracts being directly with Yamaha:
– The riders will be chosen together with Yamaha. Both the team and Yamaha, as the riders – similar to the Ducati arrangement – will have a direct factory contract with Yamaha. With Ducati, they had contracts with Ducati; with Yamaha, it will be the same: in the future, both riders will have direct contracts with Yamaha.
According to Borsoi, Pramac will not exactly be a satellite team: ‘In fact, next year this team won’t even be called a satellite team; it will be an official parallel team of Yamaha for all intents and purposes. I don’t think it would even be correct to call it a satellite team’.
