Max Verstappen has been the “target to beat” in Formula 1 in recent years. The Red Bull driver has already won three consecutive titles, the last two being dominantly achieved, and he is already wondering if the same will not happen in 2024.
Eddie Jordan, former team owner, predicted in an interview with Auto Bild that the two current veterans will not be rivals on par with the Dutchman: ‘I simply no longer trust that Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso, although they are well-deserved champions, can keep up with Verstappen’s pace due to their age’.
So, who could be on the same level as Verstappen? The Irishman commented: ‘I only see one rival for Max, and that is Charles Leclerc. If I had a top team now and couldn’t get Max, there would only be one pair of drivers capable of fighting Verstappen: Leclerc and, as a teammate, Lando Norris’.
