The Italian government is studying the possibility of implementing a €930 million incentive plan for the acquisition of electric vehicles and the replacement of the Italian automobile fleet.
According to “Bloomberg”, the incentive package being analyzed by the Ministry of Industry includes financial support of €13,750 to allow citizens with lower purchasing power to exchange their old gasoline or diesel-powered cars for electric vehicles. In addition, the plan also includes support for families who purchase vehicles manufactured in Italy.
The objective, as reported by “Bloomberg”, is to reverse the situation of the Italian automobile fleet, one of the oldest in Europe, with at least 11 million vehicles that are over 20 years old.
This incentive package for electric mobility by the Italian government will be presented to representatives of the automotive sector in February.
