The new Honda RC213V didn’t seem to make a strong impact on Joan Mir, judging by his comments on the first morning of tests with the team at Misano. The former world champion still saw some improvements, but highlighted that these are far from being ‘huge’.
Mir started by reviewing the morning impressions with the bike: ‘In some areas, we’ve improved for sure. We didn’t make a huge step, we’re far from it, but I could feel a little bit better, especially with used tyres. I was able to be a little bit more constant, so that’s always OK. But it’s only the first test. We could see some things positive, but I still can’t say if it will be the way we’ll take for next year because we need to put everything on point. If we want to be where we want to be, we need a bit more help’.
As for the new chassis and where it is better, the spaniard said:
– The grip is something that for me was slightly better, but we are still very far. On the stopping area, this bike stops a little bit better, especially with used tyres, and the turning also looks a little better. So for me, if this afternoon goes as we plan, then this will be a small step in every area.
