On Tuesday, rumors surfaced about the imminent renewal of Joan Mir’s contract with Repsol Honda. However, nothing has been signed yet, although this is the priority for the 2020 world champion.
Paco Sánchez, the rider’s manager, clarified to Crash.net: ‘From the start of the season, Joan’s priority was to extend his contract with HRC. Although the bike isn’t competitive at the moment, Joan doesn’t like to exit from the back door. He likes to fight and help them to build a competitive bike’.
But, the agent continued, there is no signed contract yet, although it is expected to be not far off: ‘We didn’t sign any agreement yet. We’re negotiating, and I hope we could reach an agreement during next weeks’.
A few weeks ago, Mir himself admitted that he needed to have his future clearer around the Dutch GP (June 28 to 30). The international press speculates that staying with Repsol Honda is almost certain, but over the past few weeks, the rider has also been linked to Trackhouse Racing, and there have even been rumors about a surprising end to his career.
