The JGR veteran, Martin Truex Jr., has no plans to completely stop racing. In a special announcement, Joe Gibbs Racing confirmed that Truex Jr. will take over the Toyota Camry No:19 starting from the 2024 season. This marks the end of a remarkable career that deserves recognition in the Hall of Fame. The decision to retire was motivated by Truex Jr.’s desire to slow down and enjoy life more. However, he will still be involved in racing and NASCAR in a limited capacity. JGR boss, Joe Gibbs, revealed that Truex Jr. will serve as a team ambassador. Despite rumors of a possible return to NASCAR, Truex Jr.’s teammate, Denny Hamlin, stated that this is unlikely as the veteran has other goals to pursue in his life. While it is expected that Truex Jr. will only make a few appearances in NASCAR after retirement, his passion for the sport will keep him involved as a fan and supporter starting from the 2025 season.
