Honda might be starting to find a way to return to a better competitive level or, at least, that is the idea that comes from Johann Zarco’s word after the tests at Mugello, with the french to even be surprised, as he confessed. At the same time, and looking at this GP in Catalunya, the french is hoping to do well.
Speaking about this next GP at Barcelona, the LCR Honda rider began to express his feelings towards this next race: ‘I’m happy to be here, it’s a good track I think for me because I already got very good results here. It is very particular with this asphalt, the grip, and I hope with the others struggling a bit more I can get some advantage and after the test we did in Mugello I think we will get some evolution in the aero, the most difficult to get this aero that was good in Mugello is to, in one week prepare many fairings and get all things’.
In a way he felt surprise with the performance of the RC213V, and hopes that it can help him right this weekend: ‘It was not planned to have so good results like this in Mugello, they did the maximum to get some steps here. They are still pushing to have it ready for this friday. Just riding in Mugello was great because after Le Mans, its a much faster track and… wow.. I feel that I was still getting my mind used to the speed, feel relaxed on the bike and that will also be useful here because it’s a fast track. I’m curious to see if this difference we got will be of a big help on the Sprint and on sunday’.
He then explained what were the main differences: ‘I felt the bike turning better, that was my feeling and with all the data they analysed after the test they can confirm it. It’s on the positive way and I think this is one thing they can homologate, then see better for the rest of the season’.
And he concluded: ‘Let’s see if I can get this top ten. I want it and it would be good to get it here in Barcelona’.
